[Call for Papers] ICOMOS International Committee on Theory and Philosophy of Conservation and Restoration (Theophilos)

This year’s conference of the International Scientific Committee on Theory and Philosophy of Conservation and Restoration is focused on Accessibility of Cultural Heritage, and will take place on 11-12 April 2022 in Florence, Italy. It will discuss the theoretical and practical problems of inclusiveness and constraints in perception, conservation and presentation of monuments and sites.

 

 

The conference will be organized into the followings thematic sessions:
1. Principles: Theoretical issues in reconciling accessibility and heritage;
2. Issues of Authenticity and Integrity in the adaptation of monuments and sites to public needs;
3. Technologies: The use of technologies to improve accessibility to heritage, and its implications;
4. Case Studies: Practical examples of the successful adaptation of monuments to public needs.

Papers proposals should:

  • Be sent in summary form up to 300 words (summary developed in the form of separate subsections or bullet points will facilitate the understanding of the ideas of the paper);
  • Include nomination of the thematic session to which they refer.

Please send the paper proposals up to 26 February 2022 to the following address: theophilos@icomos.org. Authors of papers will be notified of the reviewers' decisions up to 10 March 2022.
